1. In a large (ideally, with sides!) skillet, melt butter over medium high heat. Add onion and cook 3-5 minutes, until slightly softened.
2. Add cabbage, sugar, pepper, salt and water. Cover and reduce heat to medium. Cook 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is cooked to desired texture. Note: I love a little crunch left in the cabbage, so may only cook it 10 minutes, depending on my mood!
3. Remove cover and sprinkle with apple cider vinegar. Continue to cook 1-2 minutes, uncovered, until vinegar and any extra water is evaporated. Enjoy!

1. Heat olive oil and butter in a large saute pan over medium-high heat. Once the butter is melted, add the shredded cabbage, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, and pepper and stir. Saute for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and begins to brown. You don’t need to stir constantly.
2. Remove from the heat and stir in the apple cider vinegar. Taste and adjust salt and pepper if necessary. Sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley and serve warm.
