Here’s how you can prepare this delicious dal recipe at home. To prepare this easy recipe, wash and rinse the dal then drain out excess water. Then, pressure cook dal with a pinch of salt and water. Once the dal is boiled, take it out of the pressure cooker and mash it well. Meanwhile, wash and rinse the spinach leaves and finely chop them in a large bowl. Then, finely chop the onion and green chilli as well.
2. Take a sauce pan and cook the palak with enough water til the leaves start to wilt. Heat oil in a pan over medium flame and fry the cumin seeds and mustard seeds for sometime. Once the seeds splutter, add onions, green chillies and ginger garlic paste. Saute for a minute. If you like the smoky flavour of onions, then stir fry for sometime.
3. Add the ground palak and cooked dal along with some salt and garam masala powder. Stir and mix well. Simmer for a few minutes and remove from flame. Add lemon juice and mix again. If you don’t want to use lime juice, you can also add some amchoor powder (dried mango powder) this will add a tangy flavour to this recipe. Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves and green chilies. Serve it hot with a side dish of your choice.
