DirectionsStep1Combine dry active yeast, honey and 1/4 cup lukewarm water in a large stand mixer bowl. Let it stand for 5 minutes until frothy.Step2Attach the dough hook to the stand mixer.Step3Add the olive oil, remaining 1 cup lukewarm water, semolina flour, bread flour and salt into the frothy yeast mixture.Step4Begin mixing on low speed until all ingredients are combined.Step5Increase speed to medium and knead for 4-5 minutes until the dough is elastic and smooth.Step6Remove the dough from the bowl and finish kneading by hand on an unfloured surface. Use a bench scraper to lift the dough off the surface as needed. When the dough is springy and strong, form into a ball.Step7Wash out the bowl and lightly oil with olive oil. Place the dough into the bowl, cover with plastic wrap and allow to rise for 1 1⁄2 hours in a warm place.Step8When risen, scrape the dough out onto a lightly oiled surface.Step9Cut the dough in half.Step10Flatten each half into a long rectangle then roll up like a Swiss roll. You'll have two fat logs of dough.Step11Take one log and with the palms of your hands, roll the dough into a long rope 24 inches (about 60 cm) long.Step12Tightly begin coiling the ends in opposite directions like an "S". Continue to coil both ends back towards the middle until completely coiled.Step13Repeat with the remaining dough.Step14Carefully transfer the coiled onto the baking sheet lined with non stick parchment paperStep15Brush with water and sprinkle thickly with sesame seeds. Pat the sesame seeds on so they stick well.Step16Cover the dough loosely with plastic wrap and allow to rise in a warm spot for 30-40 minutes until puffed and risen or doubled in size.Step17In the meantime preheat the oven to 400oF/200oC and place a deep baking pan inside the oven underneath the rack that you will be baking the bread on.Step18When the dough is puffed and risen transfer it to the oven. At the same time, carefully pour one cup of water into the preheated baking pan.Step19Bake for 15 minutes then remove the baking pan of water after 15 minutes. The loaf needs to finish cooking in a dry oven.Step20Bake for a further 15-20 minutes until golden brownIngredientsIngredients2 ¼ teaspoonsActive Dry Yeast1 ¼ cupsLukewarm Water (divided)2 teaspoonsHoney1 tablespoonOlive Oil2 ½ cupsSemolina Flour (360 grams)1 cupBread Flour (140 grams)2 teaspoonsSalt2 tablespoonsSesame SeedsNutritionalNutritional144 Calories2 gTotal Fat26 gCarbohydrate293 mgSodium5 gProteinFrom marcellinaincucina.comRecipeDirectionsIngredientsNutritionalExplore furtherSemolina Bread King Arthur Bakingkingarthurbaking.comSemolina Bread - Cooking with Nonnacookingwithnonna.comCrusty Semolina Bread - Baking Sense®baking-sense.com100% Semolina Bread Recipe - Food.comfood.comSicilian Sesame Seed Bread – Homemade Italian Cookinghomemadeitaliancookin…Semolina Sandwich Bread Recipe King Arthur Bakingkingarthurbaking.comRecommended to you based on what's popular • Feedback

    1. In a large mixing bowl or in the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the water, yeast and 2 cups of the all purpose flour. Mix with the paddle on low speed until it forms a thick batter. Cover the bowl and set aside for 30 minutes.
    2. If using a stand mixer, switch to the dough hook. Add the salt and the semolina flour and mix until the dough begins to form a ball around the hook. Add the remaining 1/4 cup of all purpose flour. If mixing by hand add the flour using a wooden spoon and/or a plastic bowl scraper. Knead the dough for 5 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
    3. Place the dough into a lightly oiled bowl, turn once to coat the dough. Cover the bowl and set it aside at room temperature for 1 - 1 1/2 hours or until doubled in size. At this point you can cover the bowl tightly, refrigerate overnight and finish shaping and baking in the morning or continue to bake the same day.
    4. Use the semolina/all purpose mix to dust a proofing basket or wooden peel. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead 4-5 times, then use your cupped hands to form the dough into a smooth ball and place the dough, smooth side down, into the proofing basket. If you don't have a proofing basket place the dough directly onto a sheet of parchment paper or on the wooden peel.
