Cuisine: AmericanCategory: DessertServings: 8Total Time: 30 mins1. To Make the crust add your dry ingredients into your food processor or blender. Pulse a few times to mix.
2. Next on low-speed dropped in your very cold cubed butter. Once you have mixed in all your butter start adding in your cold water one tablespoon at a time until the crust mixture starts to come together. Don’t add too much as your mixture will become very wet and will be sticky and hard to roll out.
3. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for 10 minutes before rolling it out. Once chilled roll the pie crust out to fit standard deep dish pie plate. I suggest freezing the crust for 15 minutes before filling it with your egg mixture. This helps your pie crust bake evenly without burning or getting soggy
4. Start the custard filling by beating the 4 large eggs, add in the pinch of salt, vanilla then sit aside.

Pour into a greased 9-inch pie plate. Bake at 350º for 45-60 minutes. Bake less time for a more custardy pie and longer for a more cake-like pie. Stevia and monk fruit extracts can be replaced with 1 cup Swerve or Splenda. If you’d like an egg-free pie, try using 1 cup silken tofu puréed in place of the four eggs.

How do you make a keto custard pie?

Our Keto Custard Pie or Tart (depending on where you're from) ticks all the boxes of the classic recipe. The "Low-carb Crust" is crisp, sweet and the delicate vanilla custard is like silk on the tongue - only 2g net carbs per serve. Preheat oven to 175C/350F. Mix together the almond meal, flaxseed meal, Swerve and nutmeg in a bowl.

Is low carb egg custard the same as low carb pudding?

No, low carb egg custard and pudding are not the same things. Custard is creamy, is made with eggs and baked in a water bath. Pudding doesn’t necessarily require eggs and milk is the main ingredient.
