There are three main methods of infusing oil or fat with cannabis: saucepan, double boiler, or slow cooker. The saucepan method may be the most straightforward method, and involves heating the oil and the decarboxylated cannabis in a saucepan at the right temperature around 130-150°F (55-65°C) for about 1-3 hours.
This can be vegetable oil, coconut oil, olive oil or even avocado oil. Cook on low for 4-6 hours. When finished, you'll need to strain out the marijuana. While some like to use a cheesecloth and strainer, I've found that I get the biggest batch of Canna Oil (and make the least mess) when I use a coffee press.
Step 5 Combine the cannabis and coconut oil using one of the following methods: In a slow cooker or crockpot on low for about 4-6 hours, stirring occasionally. In a double boiler on low for 6-8 hours, stirring occasionally – a simple heat-proof bowl over a saucepan of boiling water will suffice.
Heat oil and decarbed cannabis. Add oil and decarbed cannabis to a double-boiler, slow cooker, or saucepan, and simmer on low heat for 2-3 hours. Make sure the temperature of the oil stays between 160-200ºF. Strain and store the oil. Put a mesh strainer or cheesecloth over the container for oil and pour the oil/cannabis mixture through it.
