It just takes two icings: one thicker and one thinner, along with a few squeeze bottles. If you don't have squeeze bottles, you can use pastry bags with a small round tip opening instead.

How do you keep iced cookies from rolling off?

Allow any excess icing to drip back into the bowl. Place the iced cookies on a baking sheet. If decorating your iced cookies with sprinkles, nonpareils or dragees, be sure to do so quickly, before the icing dries. Otherwise they'll roll right off! Allow the icing to set for at least 10 minutes before storing or eating your cookies.

How do you pipe icing on cookies?

Place icing in the middle of a piece of plastic wrap and then fold over the edges of the long sides and twist the ends. Place the “tube” (of icing wrapped in plastic wrap) in a piping bag, then cut off the end of the plastic wrap, fit a tip on the end and you’re ready to pipe. There is nothing wrong with drippy edges of cookies.
