Frequently Asked Questions

What makes a hazy ipa hazy?

The most important things to get right in this style of beer are: Huge, juicy, tropical and fruity hop aroma. Low bitterness. Full and silky mouthfeel. The key to achieving a Hazy IPA that encapsulates these traits isn’t necessarily about making a murky beer but the haziness is a byproduct.

Are low calorie ipas the new trend in craft beer?

The newest trend in craft beer is one you'd never have predicted a decade ago: light, low-calorie IPAs. Brewers began pushing the caloric limits of wheat beers, sours, and lagers several years ago, but they've only recently tackled (with success) the most difficult style to brew with a minimal calorie count.

Should you keg or bottle your ipas?

By far the best results were the hazy IPAs packaged in keg compared to bottling. Hazy IPAs are very prone to oxidisation which introduces off flavours, mutes aroma hops and in this case, causes discolouration in the beer. In fact, the bottled versions of these beers completely changed after around 3 to 4 weeks.

What color should a hazy ipa look like?

There are many variations of the Hazy IPA style. But these all have very similar qualities I wanted to achieve. I needed to know what I wanted the final beer to look, smell, and taste. The color of these beers ranges from pastel yellow to orange juice. I like the pastel yellow look.
