Heat a pan over medium heat. Place rolled paratha on the pan, and roast it from both sides. Apply a little ghee/oil/butter on both sides. Roast until golden brown from both sides. Repeat with the remaining dough and filling to make more parathas. Serve Punjabi Aloo Paratha hot with your favorite chutney, pickle, and raita .
Aloo paratha shallow fried in ghee has 280 calories whereas if you make it in olive oil each paratha has 265 calories. If you can cook without using oil, it is 145 calories per paratha. Note – I am not a registered dietitian or nutritionist.
Aloo Ka Paratha can actually be made with or without onions in them. There are times I add chopped onion and mint leaves and make Aloo Pyaaz Paratha for the extra crunch in the stuffed paratha. You can totally skip it and make aloo paratha without onion.
You can also serve the aloo parathas with green chutney or coconut chutney or a light gravy. Ideally, a light potato shorba goes best with aloo ka paratha. You can also make quick onion-tomato-green chilli raita that tastes amazing with this paratha. For a perfect Aloo Paratha, make sure that you have a fine filling of potatoes.
