2. Use your hands to press the dough together and wrap it in plastic wrap. Chill the dough for one hour in the fridge.
3. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and line one or two baking sheets with parchment paper.
4. Roll the chilled dough into a log approximately 1/2 inch thick. Cut the log into 1 1/2-inch pieces, form the pieces into small cylinders and taper the ends into dull points. Bend each one into a crescent shape. Place the Vanillekipferl on the baking sheet about 1 inch apart.

2. Turn the mixture onto the floured surface and knead the dough until it comes together. Shape it into a log and wrap with plastic wrap. Chill the log in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
3. Roll small piece of dough into a 3 inch rope and shape it into a crescent. Repeat with remaining dough. Place on an ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 175 C (375 F) for 10 minutes. Cookies should not turn brown.
4. Let cool on cookie sheet for 5-10 minutes. Roll in powdered sugar mixed with vanilla sugar while cookies are still warm. Store them in an air tight container.
