I would encourage you to test soaps made with different oils. Use a recipe like the first one and then compare it to either of the two recipes I gave you. You will be surprised that while all are great soaps, the last two recipes are much less expensive, are easier to weigh out and measure, and are equally as great!

Homemade soap essentially require 3 things. A fat, a liquid and lye. In the olden days pioneers used wood ash to make lye. Then in turn used the lye, animal fat and a liquid to make simple homemade bars of soap.
Adding oils like Olive Oil & Cocoa Butter help to make this a wonderfully moisturizing bar of soap with great lather. Add lye to room temperature or cold purified water, stir well and let cool. Blend lye solution into oil mixture at equal temperatures. Alternately mix batch with manual whisk and electric blender to fully incorporate ingredients.
