To begin making the Maharashtrian Kanda Poha Recipe, heat the oil in a large shallow pan. When the oil is hot, throw in the cumin seeds. When they splutter, add the chilli, peanuts and the curry leaves. Add the onions and cook till light pink or brown on a medium flame.
Next, add cumin seeds, curry leaves, mustard seeds, asafoetida (heeng), green chillies along with onions. Stir for a few seconds and saute them as well on medium flame. Add poha and turmeric powder in the sauteed onions along with salt to taste and mix them well until the poha gets a yellowish colour.
