Frequently Asked Questions

What is chicken chimichangas?

Chicken Chimichangas. A large flour tortilla filled with shredded chicken, refried beans, cheese, salsa and spices, rolled up like a burrito and then pan fried or baked. Served topped with sour cream, guacamole and salsa, this Mexican inspired recipe is delicious! I’ve been making variations of this chicken chimichangas recipe for years...

Can you cook chimichangas without seasoning?

If chicken is cooked without the seasoning, mix in the seasoning when adding the cheeses to the chicken. If you do not have an air fryer, you can fry the chimichangas in a skillet in a thin layer of refined coconut oil. You may have more chicken mixture than can fit into your tortillas.

How do you cook chimichangas with beans and rice?

Divide the rice and beans evenly among them. In a small bowl, mix the shredded chicken, salsa, and spices, then add evenly to the tortillas. Top each tortilla with shredded cheese, then roll up, folding in the edges as you go. Add the chimichangas to the hot oil, cooking 2-3 at a time.

How do you pan fry chimichangas?

For pan fried chimichangas, heat a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add oil to skillet and place chimichangas seam side down. Turn lightly every 2-30 seconds until lightly golden on all sides. Serve warm, topped with salsa and sour cream and a side of Authentic Mexican Rice .
