Unfortunately, there are many recipes floating around the Internet, or in older publications that are just not safe. This is not an exhaustive list, but it’s a good place to start.

If the lid doesn’t come off (and the middle doesn’t “pop”) when you gently pull on it, you should be set! Always remove rims before storing your canned goods. Never stack jars when you store them in your cabinets, pantry, or root cellar. Why do these two things matter?
