This is optional; the duck can go directly in the bottom of the slow cooker and the recipe will come out just fine. The meat will just cook in more duck grease. One thing to note is that a lot of a duck’s fat is actually in the skin. One way to cut back on your fat intake is to remove the skin after it’s done cooking.
Place the potatoes, carrots, and onion in the bottom of the crock pot. Place the ducks on top. Combine the water and onion soup mix and stir well. Pour over the ducks and vegetables. Evenly distribute the butter.
Proceed to slow cooker or pressure cooker steps. Add the seasoned duck to slow cooker. Cook HIGH 3-4 hours or LOW 6-8.
