What to eat with cha han?

My family likes to eat Cha Han with grilled scallops or teriyaki chicken, among other things. This light, comforting rice dish can be a meal on its own or a yummy side dish to teriyaki chicken and other meat entrees. Cook 2 cups of rice according to the instructions on the package {or use leftover plain white rice}.

Is lo han chai easy to cook?

The long list of ingredients from fresh to dried further enhances the dish with interesting textures and flavors. Just like Jiu Hu Char (another traditional CNY dish), Lo Han Chai is quite easy to cook but it requires lots of preparation work.

How to make chahan?

Stir-fry on high heat and separate each grain. Add the char siu and continue stirring. Add the salt, pepper and the sake and distribute evenly. Add the chopped spring onion leaves and stir. Finally, pour the soy sauce directly onto the pan to help it grow more fragrant. Place the chahan on a plate. Garnish with the beni shoga, pickled ginger root.

Fried rice is usually attributed to Chinese cuisine, but in reality, it is found in many Asian cuisines. Cha Han is the Japanese version. This was one of my dad’s specialties when I was growing up.
