2. Add the rest of the ingredients (including the additional 1 tbsp of whiskey), cover and turn it down to a simmer for 20 minutes.
3. Uncover for the last five minutes.
4. Let cool, transfer to a glass jar and top your chicken,ribs and other meaty goodness.

3. You can make sauce ahead of time and store in an air tight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week after preparation. I do recommend making it a day ahead, since it will give the flavors time to mellow out and balance. Reheat before using.
