1. Preheat the oven to 325F and grease two 8 inch or 9 inch round cake pans very well (the 8 inch pans will take a little longer to cook but the layers will be higher and I think they will look better). Line the pans with parchment paper and grease the paper.
2. In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese and butter together until smooth. Beat in the sweetener and vanilla extract until well combined.
3. Place the bottom layer on a serving plate and cover the top with about 1/3 of the frosting. Add the next layer and frost the top and the sides.

Continue mixing on low until combined. Add the vanilla, milk and salt and increase the speed to medium and beat until fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Taste and adjust sweetener and / or milk to preferred consistency and sweetness preferred.
3. Once the cake has completely cooled, assemble the cake by placing the bottom layer on a cake platter or cake stand. Spread a thin layer of chocolate buttercream frosting then add the top layer. Add the remainder of the frosting on the top and sides and decorate as desired with fresh berries.Cake will keep 3-5 days in refrigerator.
