Fortunately, my Sugar Free Hot Apple Cider Recipe is a delicious low carb alternative that tastes like the real thing. Boil water with mulling spices and/or cinnamon stick. Pour spiced hot water over vinegar directly into your favorite mug. Add stevia to taste (and, optionally a dusting of cayenne pepper).
Honey crisp, gala and granny smith all made it into our low carb apple cider. Allow the mixture to simmer on low for about 2 to 2.5 hours, until your can easily mash the fruit. Once it's soft, strain away the fruit and whole spices, then discard. Now, over low heat, stir in sweetener until it dissolves.
Sugar Free Hot Apple Cider Recipe. Boil water with mulling spices and/or cinnamon stick. Pour spiced hot water over vinegar directly into your favorite mug. Add stevia to taste (and, optionally a dusting of cayenne pepper). Garnish with cinnamon stick if desired. Cozy up, enjoy, and rest easy knowing your healthy-eating efforts are still on track.
The only truly "essential" spices are whole cinnamon sticks. We used eight cinnamon sticks, but we love a lot of cinnamon flavor. Some of our favorite additions are fresh ginger, cloves, nutmeg, allspice and star anise. If you don't like or don't have any of the spices or aromatics for this low carb apple cider, don't worry.
