The term Hispanic ( Spanish: hispano) refers to people, cultures, or countries related to Spain, the Spanish language, or Hispanidad. Hispanics are sometimes defined as an ethnic group or pan-ethnicity, especially within the United States [1] and in the panhispanic movement.

In another way of looking at it, Hispanic is linguistic and Latino is terrestrial. What does Hispanic mean? Hispanic is an adjective that generally means “relating to Spanish-speaking Latin America” or to “people of Spanish-speaking descent.” It can also be used as a noun when referring to a US resident who is “of Spanish or Spanish-speaking Latin-American descent.”
One way to count Hispanics is straightforward: Hispanics are those who say they are Hispanic, with no exceptions. Pew Research Center uses this approach in our surveys, as do other polling firms such as Gallup and voter exit polls. The Census Bureau largely counts Hispanics this way, too, but with some exceptions.
Hispanic Americans, also called Latinos, feminine Latinas, and Latinxs, people living in the United States who are descendants of Spanish-speaking peoples. Since most Hispanics trace their ancestry to Latin America, they are also often called Latinos.

"Hispanic" is generally accepted as a narrower term that includes people only from Spanish-speaking Latin America, including those countries/territories of the Caribbean or from Spain itself. With this understanding, a Brazilian could be Latino and non-Hispanic, a Spaniard could be Hispanic and non-Latino, and a Colombian could use both terms.
