Directions: Epsom salt will help the oil mix with water and prevents oil from sticking to the bottle and spray tube. This step could be omitted if desired. Filtered or distilled water is best to prevent contamination or spoilage of your essential oil sprays from impurities found in tap water.
Makes about 2 ounces. In a 2 oz. glass bottle with mister, combine essential oil blend with vodka or 91% isopropyl alcohol and shake well to dilute. This will yield a 4% solution in which the oils are fully dissolved. Fill remainder of bottle with a hydrosol (for added fragrance) or witch hazel extract (for a neutral option).
The vodka is essential for the spray. Oil and water don’t mix, but adding a little alcohol fixes that. It disperses the oil and also helps the scent linger longer in the air. You still should shake the bottle of room spray a bit before you spritz so that the essential oil is evenly distributed in the liquid.
