1. Wash the fresh apples. You do not need to blanch them.
2. You will need to peel, core, and slice them thinly. I have found the best method for doing that is to use a peeler/corer/slicer. It makes that a fast and easy task!
3. If you are hand slicing your apples, it is important to know that the slices should be as uniform in thickness as possible so that they dry evenly. The slices should be about 3/8 inch thick and should not be placed so that they overlap or are too close together on the dehydrator trays to allow air circulation.
4. If your apples are damp, patting them dry with a paper towel will decrease the time needed to dehydrate them. Place them on the dehydrator trays. You should leave at least 1/4 inch space around the food pieces.
