Frequently Asked Questions

What is polish pierogi?

This authentic Polish pierogi recipe is from my grandmother and has been handed down in our family for generations. The pierogi are filled with cheese, potatoes, and mushrooms but you can use the dough recipe and stuff them with other fillings to your liking.

What is the filling for pierogi ruskie?

Filling for Pierogi Ruskie consists of two key ingredients – high quality potatoes and farmer’s Cheese (Polish ‘twaróg’). Don’t make the stuffing immediately after the potatoes are cooked. It’s better to cool them down first, mash properly and leave them till the next day. This procedure improves their texture (think: less slimy).

Do you need a pierogi maker to cook pierogi?

And be careful of the seal. If you get any filling in the sealing area, the pierogi will leak the filling when you cook them. To avoid sealing problems, we recommend that you use a pierogi maker. Watch the video and you will see why.

Are pierogies low carb?

I used a cheesy cauliflower puree inside, but these low carb pierogies can be filled with almost anything and they will be delicious! Pierogies (also Pirogi or Pierogi) are Eastern European dumplings that are traditionally filled with mashed potatoes, onions, cheese, sauerkraut, ground meat, or even fruit.
