Frequently Asked Questions

What do you need to make an authentic irish guinness stew?

Traditional Irish stew is built on a few basic ingredients: mutton (sheep), onions and potatoes. Any other vegetable could be added as well like turnips, carrots, squash or mushrooms.

What is the best guinness stew recipe?

Heat olive oil in heavy large pot over medium-high heat. Add beef and sauté until brown on all sides, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and sauté 1 minute. Add beef stock, Guinness, red wine, tomato paste, sugar, thyme, Worcestershire sauce and bay leaves. Stir to combine.

What is a traditional irish beef and guinness stew?

As its name suggests, what sets Ireland’s beef stew apart from others is its inclusion of Guinness stout. The alcohol is evaporated as the simmers low and slow and you’re left with a deep and robust flavor with fork-tender beef, waxy potatoes and the sweetness of parsnips and carrots. Guinness Beef Stew is traditional Irish pub fare.
