2. Add all of your ingredients to your crock pot and cook on low overnight for 9-12 hours.
3. Puree pears with an immersion blender or put everything into a blender and then put the puree back into the crock pot.
4. Cook on low for a few more hours or until the pear butter reaches your desired thickness (I did another 6 hours).

3. After 4 hours, remove the lid and mash the pears a bit before carefully transferring into a large blender. Blend the mixture until completely smooth, about 30 seconds.
4. Add the mixture back into the slow cooker with the cover slightly ajar and cook on high for another 3-4 hours until thick, mixing every 30 minutes or so. (It thickens more after cooking as it cools).

2. Peel the pears, halve and core them. You can core them with a melon baller, with a metal measuring spoon, or with a paring knife, as I do in the video below. I like to leave the stems on - they make for a pretty presentation. But you can cut them off if you wish. You can also shave a thin slice off the bottom of each pear half, enabling them to stay upright in the baking dish.
3. In a small bowl, whisk together the butter, vanilla, and cinnamon. Brush the pears with the mixture on both sides.
4. Arrange the pears in the prepared baking dish, cut side down. Bake them until fork-tender, about 30 minutes per side, basting every 15 minutes with the pan juices.
