1. Combine all ingredients, except for sesame seeds, in a small saucepan and continually whisk on medium heat. Bring sauce to a boil then turn the heat down and let the sauce simmer for 5 to 6 minutes, making sure to continually whisk, until the sauce has thickened up and coats the back of a spoon.
2. If you want a thicker sauce, mix together 2 teaspoons of cornstarch with 2 teaspoons of cold water to make a slurry then mix it into the teriyaki sauce once the sauce has been removed from the heat.
3. Mix in sesame seeds and enjoy the sauce while it’s warm or let the sauce cool completely before storing in the fridge.
