Since we live in Michigan where the grill is covered in snow 75% of the year, we most commonly sauté the chicken in a pan with a little olive oil. I’ve also broiled the chicken in the oven which works well too.
While similar, chicken tawook and chicken shawarma are not the same. Yes, both are made of boneless skinless chicken and are loaded with Middle Eastern flavors, but there is a difference in the marinade and in the way each dish is prepared.
Normally people eat in a form of a shawarma sandwich using pita bread. If you are serving shish tawook sandwich then also add oven baked fries, coleslaw in a platter. You can also serve it with Fattoush, tabbouleh, tahini sauce, hummus, Lebanese toum.
