1. Soak the dried red chilies in warm water for 30 minutes. Then drain the water and grind the chilies to a smooth paste using 2 to 3 tablespoons water in a blender.
2. Heat sesame oil in a skillet on medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the chopped garlic and ginger and saute until the raw smell goes away. You don't want to brown them, so keep that in mind.
3. Then add the chopped onion and saute until translucent. Again don't brown the onion.
4. Stir in the prepared red chili paste and cook for 1 to 2 minutes. Now add 1/2 cup water and tomato paste. Stir and cook for another minute or so.
