It is a sweet and sticky kueh that goes great with black coffee. The top layer is a kaya custard, followed by a glutinous rice layer which is sometimes coloured blue with the blue butterfly pea flower. If you want to try this Nyonya kueh recipe at home, check out Sharefood's video below!
Kueh Salat (Kuih Seri Muka) 1 3 large eggs 70 g. 2 150 g sugar. 3 1/4 tsp salt. 4 400 ml thin santan (200 ml thick coconut milk with 200 ml water) 5 100 ml pandan water (from 30 pandan leaves with 100 ml water) 6 90 g plain flour. 7 45 g tapioca flour Instructions BOTTOM LAYER.
Glutinous rice is cooked in pandan juice before being wrapped into a triangular shape in banana leaves. It is further boiled in water for approximately 3 hours before the banana leaves are removed and the kueh is rolled in generous amounts of fresh, slightly salted coconut shavings.
