This Chocolate Mocha Cake is the ultimate indulgence. A rich dark chocolate cake with a silky mocha swiss meringue buttercream. Preheat oven to 350F, grease three 6″ round baking pans and dust with cocoa powder. Line bottoms with parchment. Place all dry ingredients into the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. Stir to combine.

It’s made up of eight luscious chocolate cake layers frosted with coffee flavored Swiss meringue buttercream and topped with toasted hazelnuts. What is Mocha? The word mocha comes from moccacino, which is essentially a chocolate flavored coffee.
Once the meringue has cooled completely to room temperature, you’ll add the butter and voila. For the coffee flavor, use espresso powder or instant coffee granules with hot water. Let it cool for a few minutes and add it to the buttercream.
