Instant Pot Matar Paneer Masala is ready to serve. Grind onion, ginger, garlic to a smooth paste without adding water and keep aside. Also, blend the tomatoes separately and keep them aside. Note : I used ½ can of tomato puree (sauce) and about 1 cup for this recipe. Heat oil in a pot. Once the oil is hot, add bay leaves, cardamom, and cumin seeds.
Making Matar Paneer Recipe: Heat remaining 1 tablespoon of oil in the same pan and add prepared paste. Cook till all the moisture evaporates and becomes thick paste Now add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder and garam masala, mix well and saute for a minute. Add water to make gravy consistency and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes.
Usually to make gravy, we first sauté onions and then sauté tomatoes. However this one is done in a completely different way. Add all the ingredients, except paneer, cream and honey in the instant pot and pressure cook for 8 minutes. You don't need to finely chop the onions and tomatoes, as we are going to blend them later.
The consistency is medium and neither thick nor thin. If the gravy appears thick, then add some water and simmer for some minutes. Add the paneer cubes. Mix well or simmer for a few seconds until the paneer cubes are cooked. For a slight sweet taste, you can also add sugar just before you add the paneer cubes.
