Cream Cheese Kolaches If cream cheese is your thing, this is the kolache recipe for you. They take less than two hours to make and overflow with sweet-n-tangy goodness. These are also thinner than some of the other recipes. So, these may be the better option if you’re looking to cut down on carbs. (They still aren’t low-carb, of course.)
Use the palm of your hand to flatten and press 1 piece into a circle or oval. Add 1 piece of Cheddar cheese topped with 1 sausage half. Roll dough around fillings and very tightly pinch all seams together to seal. Smooth seams down and place kolache on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining dough and filling to make 20 kolaches.
These low carb kolacky are my version of the traditional Christmas cookie from Poland! They're made from sweetened fathead dough, and are sugar free and keto friendly! Preheat the oven to 350F. Make the dough by melting shredded mozzarella and cream cheese together in the microwave. Stir in some fine almond flour and sweetener.
If you've never had a kolache (pronounced KOE-lah-cha...don't say 'koe-lah-CHEE around me, please), it's similar to a soft, egg-y, buttery brioche roll with a fruit filling on top. The most common flavors are: prune, poppy seed, cream cheese, and apricot. I've also seen blueberry, cherry, and lemon.
