1. Trim and rinse the beans. Put them into the crockpot/slow cooker.
2. Add 1 cup diced tomatoes along with the juice, 1 cup of sliced onion (about one medium onion), 2 cloves of smashed garlic, 4 slices of roughly chopped bacon, 2 links of smoked sausage chopped into 1/4-inch slices, and one cup of chicken stock.
3. Give it a good stir, put the lid on it and set it to high. Cook on high for 2.5 hours, then enjoy! Stir once or twice during cooking to combine the flavors.

1. Place the chopped bacon into a saucepan over medium heat on the stove and cook until done to your liking. Remove, and place on a paper towel lined plate to drain.
2. Remove most of the excess bacon grease from the saucepan but leave a bit in the bottom.
3. Add the onion to the saucepan and cook until they become tender. Add the garlic and sauté 30 seconds longer. Remove, and set aside.
4. Place the beans and chicken broth into the saucepan and bring to a light boil. Simmer uncovered for 45 minutes to an hour. If needed, you can add water when the liquid runs low during the cooking process.

1. Bring a large saucepan of water to a boil. Add the trimmed green beans and cook until al dente, about 6 minutes. Drain the green beans and immediately immerse into an ice bath.
2. In a large pan bring melt the butter over medium heat. Add the garlic, sugar substitute, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice and almonds. Cook over medium low heat for 4-5 minutes until almonds are toasted.
3. Add the drained green beans, tossing to coat. Add salt and pepper to taste and cook for 6-7 minutes until heated through.
4. Serve with additional lemon wedges for garnish.
