To prepare this delightful dish, here’s what you need: Wash the basmati rice in cold running water. Soak the rice for some time, this reduces the cooking time. Then, take a bowl, add 3 cups of water along with rice.
2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds and allow them to splutter. Add sliced onions and fry them till they turn slightly pinkish in hue. If you are fond of spicy food, then, you can add some finely chopped green chillies and let them fry. To accentuate the taste you can also add some green peas and dry fruits, however, it depends on your taste preference.
3. Now add cumin powder, rice along with the water and salt. Mix well and pressure cook for 2 whistles. To make the perfect jeera rice like the restaurants, you must be very careful about the cooking time of rice as it should not be overdone.
