Total Time: 25 minsCategory: Drinks, Lunch, Side DishCalories: 303 per serving1. In a wok, heat peanut oil over a fairly high heat. Add the vegetables and saute for about 2-3 minutes, frequently stirring, until nicely caramelized. To help the vegetables soften up, lower the heat to medium and cover them with a small lid placed inside the wok. Let saute for another 3-5 minutes, stirring every 1 minute or so, until the vegetables are soft enough.
2. Crank the heat up to medium-high. Move the vegetables over to the side of the wok and add the eggs. Cook as you would scrambled eggs, frequently scraping and mixing with a spatula. Mix in with the vegetables.
3. Add the rice and the soy sauce. Optionally, you may add unsalted butter for richer, buttery taste and/or hot chili oil for some heat. Sprinkle the white pepper. Mix with vegetables and saute for about 3-4 minutes, constantly stirring and trying to break up any rice clumps.
4. Finally, add the frozen peas and the green onions and continue sauteing for another minute. A cup of diced left-over chicken is always a nice addition to hibachi rice, if you have some on hand. If you add the chicken you may have to cook an extra minute or so, until the chicken has warmed up.

Place the onion, garlic, and green onion down and cook for 1 to 2 minutes Season well with your salt, pepper, and garlic powder shaker. Add the cold rice and additional garlic butter. Stir fry this well and add 10-12 shakes of soy sauce and additional sesame oil.

Can you make hibachi at home?

One of my favorite parts of hibachi is the fried rice and I was determined to make it at home. This recipe is quick and easy and is sure to be a big hit. I enjoy using left-over teriyaki chicken in my fried rice, but you can use any meat you want or no meat at all! With or without chicken it is equally as delicious and a great side dish!

What type of rice is best for hibachi?

When making fried rice, my go-to variety that is the best for hibachi-style cooking is definitely Jasmine rice. Followed closely by Basmati rice, although most any medium to long-grain white rice will work. Whichever rice you use, you want a cooked rice grain that is fluffy yet firm, longer than it is round, and that doesn't stick together!
