3. Then add ginger pieces, chopped onion, salt, and cumin powder in the pan. Stir well and saute till onion turns translucent. Put off the flame and allow this mixture to cool.
4. Once cooled grind this mixture into a fine paste, adding water if required, using a grinder. Add grated coconut, powdered jaggery and tamarind paste to this mixture, and grind again into a smooth paste. Ginger Chutney is now ready to be served along with idli or dosa.
