German Vanilla Crescent Cookies - tender, melt-in-your-mouth, buttery cookies with ground walnuts. To make German Vanilla Crescent Cookies, place flour, butter, granulated sugar, ground walnuts and the egg white in a bowl of your food processor (you can also mix ingredients by hand or using hand mixer).
Walnut crescent cookies are traditional German and Austrian cookies, normally made at Christmas, although they are so easy to make you could be excused for making them throughout the year. The German name for them is vanillekipferl which literally translates into vanilla crescents.
German Vanilla Crescent Cookies are only baked for about 15 minutes until the edges are lightly golden, you don’t want them too brown. Take the pan out of the oven and dust them with vanilla sugar. Many recipes say you should dip them in the sugar mixture but I find it easier to dust them because the cookies break very easily.
These sugar free walnut cookies have only 4 ingredients and are satisfyingly sweet! 1.) You beat an egg with powdered sweetener and cinnamon. If you want, you could also use granulated sweetener - I have used both with success.
