In a large pot, bring the elderberries, water, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger to a boil. Reduce the heat, cover, and simmer until the liquid has reduced by half, about 40-45 minutes.

Instructions Combine the elderberries, water, and ginger in a small saucepan over high heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Lower the heat and allow the mixture to simmer until the water has been reduced by half, about 45 minutes.
Directions Pick through the dried elderberries and remove any twigs or unripe berries. Add elderberries, 4 cups water, cinnamon sticks, ginger and cardamom to a large pot and heat over medium heat. Once it has reached a boil continue to cook, uncovered, for 45 minutes. Strain the elderberries and then measure the remaining liquid.
