    1. Add all of the ingredients to a blender or food processor (starting with just 1/4 teaspoon salt), and blend until smooth. This is important so that the dried herbs are pureed throughout the sauce well for full flavor. Taste and add more salt if desired. If your tomato sauce has added salt, you may want more.
    2. If using as a pizza sauce, just add it to your pizza crust of choice, add the toppings, and bake. If serving over pasta (my favorite use) simply warm it on the stove first just until heated through. Since the sauce is oil-free and made from pureed tomatoes, it will thicken up a lot in the fridge, so be sure to reheat in the microwave or over low heat on the stove to bring it back to a sauce consistency.
    3. This sauce will keep for 2 weeks in the fridge or the freezer for 3 months. Thaw and reheat over low heat on the stove to use again.

    1. Open the can or jar of tomato paste and scrape it into a small bowl.
    2. Add water or broth (I use broth) and whisk to thin the paste into a sauce-like consistency.
    3. I like a thick pizza sauce spread really thinly on the crust. You may like a thin sauce. Simply whisk in the water or broth until the tomato paste is to your desired saucy-ness. :)
    4. Add the herbs and spices and whisk to incorporate.

    1. Measure the onion powder, basil, oregano and red pepper flakes into a small bowl. Chop the parsley and add it to the bowl. Open the can of tomato sauce.
    2. Pour the olive oil into a small sauce pan and add the pressed garlic. Turn the heat to medium and cook until the garlic is fragrant and loses its raw smell.
    3. Pour the tomato sauce into the pan and add the chopped parsley and dried seasonings. Add half of the sweetener and taste, adding the rest if needed. Simmer about 5 minutes or until the sauce darkens slightly and no longer smells raw.
    4. Cool and store in an airtight container for up to 5 days or freeze until needed. Thaw in the refrigerator.
