If you can get negi (long green onion) from a Japanese grocery store, you can garnish the donburi with “Shiraganegi”. Cut the negi into 4 inches, and make an incision lengthwise to remove the green core. We only use the white outer layers.
Donburi is a classic Japanese comfort food – an all-in-one rice bowl with cooked protein and/or vegetables. In this donburi recipe we've opted for soft, yielding pork belly, basted with a sweet-savoury glaze of soy, sake, mirin and shiro miso.
Some donburi (rice bowl) meal can be heavy with deep-fried food on top of the rice. But this Teriyaki Pork Donburi is lighter than it might look. Under the delicious grilled pork with teriyaki glaze is a bed of shredded lettuce for fibers and refreshing crunch.
