Homemade All-Natural Body Butter Recipe. Ingredients: 1 cup of Organic Shea Butter. 1/2 cup of Coconut Oil. 1/2 cup of Almond Oil or Jojoba Oil (I’ve used both and prefer the almond oil, but jojoba is good too.)
Oil is the second main ingredient used to make body butter. The oils used in skincare recipes are typically referred to as carrier oils, although I usually call them nourishing oils. The oil used is completely up to you. For my body, I usually stick with almond or jojoba oil, and just started playing around with grapeseed oil.
1. In a food processor, add 1 cup coconut oil, 1/2 cup shea butter and 10 drops Lavender essential oil (or essential oils of your choice to customize for your own scent). 2. Pulse high until the body butter is a whipped-like consistency, about 2 minutes.
They make the body butter have a harder consistency. Too many of these and you’ll end up with a lotion bar instead of whipped body butter, but too little and you’ll end up with liquid goo! Olive oil, jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, or avocado oil are great liquid oils.
