Pour your melted chocolate mixture over the cereal/crackers and mix very well, until coated. Pour the muddy buddy mixture on the lined tray/plate and spread apart in an even layer.
Chex Mix Muddy Buddies uses Chex cereal. You can use corn Chex, rice Chex or a combination of both. If you like to have both corn and rice flavors you can use Crispix cereal. If you want to do that check out my Puppy Chow Recipes.
Muddy Buddies [a.k.a. Puppy Chow] I soon found out that it was an alternative (and sometimes regional) name for what is more commonly known as Muddy Buddies – a super quick recipe made with Rice Chex cereal. The cereal is coated with a melted mixture of chocolate chips, butter, peanut butter and vanilla extract, then dusted with powdered sugar.
Coat the Cereal in the Chocolate Sauce. Pour the chocolate mixture over the cereal, and stir gently with a spatula to coat. Coat the Mixture with Powdered Sugar. Finally, dump in the powdered sugar, and toss to coat. Enjoy! As you can imagine, a snack like muddy buddies has tons of easy substitution options.
