Frequently Asked Questions

Can you freeze coffee granitas?

Make the coffee granita base: Pour the hot coffee into a shallow, freezer-safe container with a fitted lid. Add the sweetener and gently mix together until the sugar dissolves. Stir in the cinnamon and vanilla extract. Let the coffee cool down to room temperature, then cover and place in the freezer for one hour.

What coffee base do you use for granitas?

You can make this granita with virtually any brewed coffee base, but my first choice would be a cold brew. If you haven't seen our video for that incredibly simple technique, please check it out.

What is the best way to make a great granita?

Otherwise, just a pot of good, old-fashioned dip brew is more than fine. Whenever I post something like this, people always wonder if they can reduce the amount of sugar.

What does granita look like?

When served, the granita should look like a fluffy pile of dry brown crystals. Scoop into goblets and top with barely sweetened whipped cream, add additional citrus zest if desired. Looking for Something Else?
