Can buttermilk be used with baking powder?

If you are using baking powder, however, you should substitute buttermilk for regular milk since it upsets the balance of alkali and acid in the mixture. In addition to reducing the carbon dioxide released, buttermilk has more acid than regular milk, which prevents the leavening process from being affected.
