2. To make masala, grind the Onion (2), Tomato (3), Green Chili Pepper (1), Ginger Garlic Paste (1 teaspoon) in a mixer grinder. Add a little bit of water in between grinding.
3. In a cooking pot, heat Oil (2 tablespoon). Add onion-tomato curry masala. Saute for a few minutes.
4. Add Ground Coriander (1/2 teaspoon), Kashmiri Red Chili Powder (1/4 teaspoon), Ground Turmeric (1/2 teaspoon), and Salt (to taste). Saute in a low flame till the masala is cooked. When it starts producing oil, it means your masala is cooked.

3. Heat the oil in pressure cooker on medium heat. Test the heat by adding one cumin seed to the oil; if seed cracks right away oil is ready. Add the cumin seeds as they crack add asafetida, add the spice paste and stir for a minute until spices start leaving the oil.
4. Add Black Eyed Beans, salt and water close the pressure cooker as pressure cooker starts steaming turn the heat down to medium and cook for 6-7 minutes.
