DirectionsStep1Preheat the oven to 350 F.Step2Wash the yams.Step3Peel then chop the yams (make sure that they are about 1/2 inch thick).Step4Place the yams into a 9x13 baking dish.Step5Place the butter into a medium-sized pot and melt it over medium heat.Step6Once the butter is melted, sprinkle in the white & brown sugar, ground cinnamon,ground nutmeg, ground ginger, and ground clove.Step7Turn the stove off, mix the ingredients until the sugar is dissolved, then add in the vanilla extract.Step8Pour the candied mixture over the yams and try to coat all the yams with the buttery brown sugar glaze.Step9Next, cover the baking dish with foil and bake the yams in the oven for 30 minutes.Step10Remove the yams from the oven and baste them with the candied mixture. Mix with a spoon so the glaze evenly covers all the yam slices.Step11Cover the yams and continue baking for another 15-20 minutes.Step12Remove the yams from the oven - they should now be super tender and soft.
