1. In a large bowl sift together the flour, spices, baking soda & salt.
2. In a separate bowl, beat together the butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Then beat in the molasses, vanilla extract and large egg.
3. Turn the mixer down to low speed and carefully add beat in the flour mixture about 1/2 at a time.
4. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes.

4. CHILL DOUGH: If the dough seems too soft (this could result if you used melted coconut oil), you can cover the bowl and chill in the freezer for at least 15 minutes. I do not usually have to chill mine.
