Mutton Kulambu (Mutton Kuzhambu), pronounced as koo-lum-boo in Tamil, is a popular mutton (goat meat) curry from Tamil Nadu and the Chettinad region and is traditionally served with steamed rice, idli, and dosa.
Kulambu or kuzhambu is a thin curry with a sour touch by adding tomatoes to them. Mutton Kulambu is perfectly cooked well, so that the masala flavors get infused into the mutton, making it perfect to make for your special South Indian meal.
Add a teaspoon of castor oil to the mutton. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes until all the juices that come from the mutton has evaporated and its completely dry. Grind the ginger and garlic with quarter cup of water to a fine paste. Add the paste to the mutton. Note that we are using more Ginger than garlic for this recipe.
Replace mutton with mixed fresh vegetables and cook for 1 whistle on high heat in a pressure cooker or for 2 minutes in an instant pot at high pressure. With Coconut Milk – You can add some coconut milk once teh curry is ready and bring the curry to a gentle simmer.
