I was surprised that this Sweet Potato Pie can be made without all of the added sugar. The only sugar that is in this pie comes from the sweet potato itself. There are only about six grams of sugar per cup of cubed sweet potato. Technically, these are sweet potatoes that are used in this recipe. However, they will probably be labeled as 'yams'.
But you won't have to worry about that if you choose one of the low carb and keto pies you'll find below. They are all free of refined sugar and low in carbohydrates!
Of course, actual sweet potatoes are too starchy for a low carb diet, but there’s no need to miss out. It turns out that roasted butternut squash and cauliflower make the perfect stand-ins. They just need a little sugar-free sweetener added to make them as sweet as sweet potatoes.
