1. Grease a 9x13 inch baking sheet and set aside.
2. Combine dry yeast with 2 tablespoons of sugar and lukewarm milk in a small bowl. Give it a quick stir. Cover the bowl with a dishtowel and keep in a warm place for 15 minutes.
3. Lightly flour a work surface. Use a rolling pin to roll out the dough. Transfer dough to a (9x13) baking sheet. Use your hands to mold the dough into the corners of the baking sheet. Cover with a dishtowel and allow to rest for 30 minutes.
4. Bake the butter cake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and immediately pour the heavy cream all over the cake. Allow the cream to soak in and for the cake to cool down. Serve when still slightly warm.

1. Warm up the milk in the microwave or on the stove. It should be slightly warm, not hot or boiling!
2. Put the flour into a large mixing bowl and add the instant dry yeast (check packaging instructions to make sure it doesn't have to be dissolved in water or milk first). Sprinkle the sugar on top. Now add the lukewarm milk and knead everything using the spiral dough hooks of your mixer.
3. Add the vanilla extract, soft butter, egg, and a pinch of salt. Keep kneading the dough for around 5 minutes until it forms a ball and no longer sticks to the sides of the bowl. If it is too sticky, add a little bit more flour. If it is too crumbly, add some more milk.
4. Place a towel or lid over the bowl and let the ball of dough rise for at least one hour in a warm place without a draft.
