What is murukku recipe?

Murukku recipe – Murukulu or murukku is a deep fried Snack made with rice flour and dal flour. Chakli, chakuli, chakralu and jantikalu are the other Indian names to these. There are so many varieties of murukku, the one I am sharing here is a basic, very old and standard recipe that is followed by many South Indian women.

How to make arisi murukku with rice flour?

Arisi murukku is very easy and crunchy snack with just rice flour. With butter, omam (ajwain) cumin, sesame seeds and asafoetida for flavoring. Take rice flour, sesame seeds, cumin, ajwain, asafoetida, salt and melt butter in a mixing bowl. Mix well. Add water little by little and make a soft crack free dough.

What is the difference between murukku and chakli?

While the Murukku Recipe primarily has base ingredients like rice flour and urad dal flour, the chakli will have gram flour in place of the lentil flour, along with the rice flour as its primary ingredients. Also, I use asafoetida in both these recipes of mine. But you can choose to omit it to make a gluten free version of these snacks.
